説明: SCP-8889は、ヴィキャンデル=ニード・テクニカル・メディア (GoI-5889) によって製造された、同GoIが2024年2月1日に実行したサイト-43からのウェトル博士の拉致に関連する異常なメディアの総称です。SCP-8889は (ヴィキャンデル=ニードが手掛けたメディアにしては珍しく) 有害なミーム効果をほとんどないし全く持ちませんが、全てのSCP-8889実例には各種の軽微な異常性があります。

SCP-8889-Aは、ヴィキャンデル=ニードの渉外部長、マリアン・マクファーソンの映像を含む .mp4ファイルです。現在、SCP-8889-Aはいかなる異常性も帯びていませんが、ウェトル博士の証言によると、最初に視聴した際には次のような現象を発生させました。

  • ウェトル博士のコンピュータの全てのオペレーティングシステム及びサブルーチンの制御を掌握した。
  • ウェトル博士の居室のドアを封鎖した。
  • その後の再生時には確認できない人物が映っていた。
  • 画面外に物理的な体肢を突出させた。
  • 未知の空間へのポータルとして機能した。

SCP-8889-Bは、“ウィリアム・ウォレス・ウェトルのウヮンダラス・ウェディング”と題された、全8話構成のテレビ番組です。ウェトル博士によると、SCP-8889-Bは彼がヴィキャンデル=ニードに拘束されていた当時の体験を正確に描写しています。SCP-8889-Bの映像の複製を試みると、そのコピーがデジタルか物理メディアかを問わず、最終的には海賊版防止警告メッセージの静止画像へと劣化します。

補遺1: 発見

2024年2月1日、ウェトル博士は“見るな”という件名でSCP-8889-Aが添付された電子メールを受信しました。3分後、ウェトル博士は当該ファイルをダウンロード・視聴し、職員寮から失踪しました。彼の失踪は当初、単に寝過ごしただけだと推測されたため、10時間後の翌日まで報告されませんでした。

ウェトル博士の失踪後、調査が開始されました。SCP-8889-Aは悲鳴を上げるウェトル博士の静止画像を表示した状態で放置されていたため、ヴィキャンデル=ニードの犯行であることは明白でした。ヴィキャンデル=ニードの活動方針に関する知見の不足から、救出作戦は実行不可能と判断されました。ヴィキャンデル=ニードが過去にも数回ウェトル博士を拉致し、数時間から数日程度で返却していたことに鑑みて、今回もウェトル博士の帰還を待つという決定がなされました。

2024年2月15日、ウェトル博士はサイト-43の郵便集配室に無意識で倒れているのを発見されました。同時に、SCP-8889-B実例が複数のフォーマット1で彼の郵便受けから発見されました。

帰還後、ウェトル博士には心理カウンセリングが提供されました。彼は義務的なセッションに1回だけ出席し、それ以降の継続を拒否しました。
